We live in an era of unprecedented global threat and opportunity. But somehow, many of our large organisations have experienced flat-line growth. Are we too timid? Are we too scared of risk? Should we be even more scared than we are?
Military thinking says that the only way to truly avoid risk is to give up and go home. Seriously… its not an option. Risk has a way of catching up with you. Risk cannot be avoided or ignored and neither can it be meekly accepted. Military strategy seeks to actively embrace risk. To understand it, to mitigate it, and if possible to turn it to your own advantage.
We use this perspective to understand military-grade tools and practices that we can use, why we might want to use them, how we can reach out across our silos, and the effect this can have on our ability to achieve consistently better outcomes.
